Safety, ethics, confidentiality and referral policy

Extraordinary Relationships is a relationship coaching program — not a substitute for therapy, psychiatric treatment, legal advice, or emergency services. Coaching is appropriate when a relationship is functioning but caught in a repeated, unproductive pattern. It is not appropriate as the primary or first response to domestic violence, coercive control, active suicidal risk, severe addiction, child safety concerns, or acute psychiatric symptoms — those situations take priority over any coaching relationship and require a qualified professional or emergency service first. If you are in immediate danger, please contact local emergency services or a domestic violence helpline in your area before seeking any other kind of support.

Requires professional or emergency support first

Coaching is not the right first step in these situations

  • Domestic violence, physical harm, or fear for your physical safety.
  • Coercive control — isolation, financial control, monitoring, threats, intimidation.
  • Suicidal thoughts, intent, or a mental health crisis.
  • Severe or active addiction.
  • Child safety concerns.
  • Acute psychiatric symptoms (e.g., psychosis, severe uncontrolled mania).
  • A diagnosed or suspected clinical condition (depression, PTSD and similar) that has not been assessed by a licensed professional.
Scope

What coaching does not do

It does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions, does not provide legal advice (including on divorce, custody or financial settlement), and does not act as crisis intervention. Where any of the above situations are present, we will refer out rather than proceed with coaching, and may pause or decline enrolment until appropriate professional support is in place.

Confidentiality

How your information is handled

All client data and session recordings are stored securely, and no client information is shared with any third party without your explicit permission. Per your signed enrolment agreement, program videos, worksheets and session material are also confidential in the other direction — clients agree not to record private sessions without permission or share confidential program content.

Personal responsibility, not victim-blaming

A note on how we use the word 'pattern'

This work helps people see their own power to respond differently in a relationship. It does not imply that a client caused abuse, betrayal, coercion or another adult’s choices, and coaching does not ask anyone to remain in an unsafe situation in the name of “working on the pattern.”

Frequently asked

Questions we hear about this

What should I do if there is violence, coercive control, threats or fear in my relationship?+

Contact local emergency services or a domestic violence helpline in your area first. Coaching is not an appropriate first response to an active safety risk.

When should we seek therapy instead of coaching?+

When a diagnosed or suspected mental health condition, trauma, addiction or safety risk is present.

Is it too late to repair our marriage?+

There is no universal answer; it depends on both people's willingness and the specific situation. This cannot be assessed generically on a webpage — a direct conversation is the appropriate next step.

What if I have lost all hope or love in my marriage?+

That feeling is common in a long-stuck pattern and does not necessarily mean the relationship is unsalvageable, but it also is not something a program can diagnose from a distance. A direct conversation can help you get clarity either way.

How is my information kept confidential?+

Your data and session recordings are stored securely and are not shared with any third party without your explicit permission.
